On January 28, 2020, IIBEC Colorado Chapter and Professional Roofing Education co-hosted a seminar to break down the requirements of the recent adoption of Denver’s Green Building Ordinance and Energy Program. Ms. Christy Collins, representing the City & County of Denver, provided an overview of the inclusions and exclusions for meeting green roof requirements in the jurisdiction. Mr. Francis Walker of Auric Energy provided detailed information for benefits of adding solar power to a site and how installation can compliment a roof assembly as well as work toward achieving the requirements of the Energy Program. Finally, Mr. Tracy Phillips, Director of C-Pace, provided up to date information on how building owners can use privately funded loans to faciliate building renovations such as addition of solar panels, window replacements, and other large capital expeditures which would otherwise not be feasible. Following the seminar, attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception and the surrounding historic car and motorcycle collection at the Lamar Street Center.
